Backup Strategies
A good backup scheme results in a good night sleep.
when it comes to protecting your data OSI Datatech takes a Tiered level approach to insure your backup protection.
Tiered storage is the assignment of different categories of data to different types of storage media in order to reduce total storage cost and increase availability and protection. Categories may be based on levels of protection needed, performance requirements, frequency of use, and other considerations. Since assigning data to particular media may be an ongoing and complex activity, OSIDatatech provides software and knowledge base for automatically manage the process based on a company-defined policy.
As an example of tiered backup storage, tier 1 data (such as Filers, NAS or SAN’s) might be stored on expensive and high-quality media such as double-parity RAIDs (redundant arrays of independent FC disks) Tier 1 data is the mission critical files or databases your enterprise needs. Tier 2 (such as Quantum DX) will stored data on less expensive SATA disks and using deduplication technologies we will make sure you are not wasting your space; As the tier number increased, the level of protection increases and the availability and fast recovery of the data is grater then the next level of tiers; Thus, tier 3 in a 3-tier system (such a Scalar 50) will provide offloading of the 2nd tier backup to the 3rd tier, so your network is not being used and your 1st tier has higher availability.
